Guide For Pepper Panic Stars – How They Work
Pepper Panic Saga stars are awarded at the end of each level you play. When you finish your score is displayed in an image which shows how many stars you achieved. You get a star rating for every level, and you can go back to replay the level at anytime to try to improve it.
Pepper Panic Saga Stars Details
Pepper Panic Saga stars are based on the points you make while playing a level. You need at least a one star score to complete each level, but so far in Pepper Panic Saga that really isn’t a factor. In our experience there aren’t any levels that you can’t get past based on your points.
As you make points a progress bar next to them fills up, and you advance to the next star. Some levels are harder to get points in than others, and it is very difficult to achieve a three star score in some of them.
Are Pepper Panic Stars Important?
Overall they aren’t. Pepper Panic Stars are just a way to keep track of the score. Pepper Panic Saga is a level based game so the main goal is to complete each level so you can progress on the map and move on through the saga. As far as moving along goes there is no difference if you complete a level with a three star score or a one star score.
Many players actually get to the end of the map though which means that they have to wait for new levels to be released. At this point a lot of them will go back to try to improve their scores for an added challenge, and for something to keep them occupied in the meantime. This can be a fun way to keep playing, and to pass time until the new levels are available.
Can You Get a Three Star Score in Every Pepper Panic Saga Level?
Is it possible to achieve a three star score in every Pepper Panic Saga Level? Yes, technically it is. At the time of writing this post there are 205 levels in the game and we have manged a three star score in all of them. To be honest we would never have tried this, but a few other players in a Pepper Panic Saga group had done it first which raised our competitive spirit. Since we were playing a lot to write our guides and basics articles anyways we figured we might as well try to improve our scores while we were at it.
We found that this added an extra dimension to the game. Since every level is different there are a number of different strategies you have to use in order to get a higher score. For example in some levels you have to hold off on completing the requirements long enough to get a couple more pepper panics, and in others you need to finish the level quickly to earn extra points from your leftover moves. This made the levels that we had already beaten fun again, and kept the game interesting.
Through this process we weren’t exactly able to figure out how the Pepper Panic designers assign point values to the Pepper Panic Saga stars system. Each level has a target score that is displayed in the beginning that is equal to the one star score, and this will give you a general idea of how many points you have to get in order to achieve a three star score. However, there are a lot of other variables like the number of moves, size of the board, and so on which must also figure in to the scoring system. In some levels that are hard to beat you always seem to get a three star score, and in some that are easy to complete achieving a high score is much harder. There are also obvious exceptions to these norms so in the end we really couldn’t make sense of it.
Should You try to Get 3 Stars in Every Pepper Panic Saga level?
It depends. As mentioned getting stars is a challenge, and it isn’t necessary for moving on in the game. While we had a lot of fun trying to improve our scores in a lot of levels we also ran into quite a few of them in which it was beyond frustrating to do so. One thing that is for sure is that it takes a lot of time and effort. If you have extra time and want a new way to keep the game interesting you might want to give it a try.
Since the levels are all so different if you want to make three stars you will have to figure out what the best strategy for each one is. In our experience there are three basic strategies to improve your Pepper Panic Saga stars which include:
- Avoid completing the level goals so that you can start more pepper panics to increase your score.
- Finish the level in the fewest moves possible to pick up additional points from your leftover moves.
- Play the level normally and hope to get lucky at the end with back to back pepper panics starting after your last move.
The most common strategy is number 1, and you will know when you need to use it based on the score you get after you finish a level through normal play. If you see that you were able to finish with several moves left over and still had a low score you will probably need to start more pepper panics before the end to make 3 stars.
The second strategy is obvious on some levels because the level requirements involve pepper panics. On these levels you can’t apply the first strategy as the level is over after you start the last required panic. Here you need to finish as quickly as possible so that you have a lot of moves leftover which will increase your score at the end.
On a level like 132 there is no other way to get a three star score other than waiting to get a string of pepper panics at the end after you finish. This type of level was the most frustrating for us because we just had to keep trying with no control over the outcome. While these were the most frustrating there are extremely difficult levels that require each of the 3 strategies, and most of the harder levels require help from the board and the peppers if not flat-out luck to get a high enough score.
Sometimes the designers adjust levels when they update the game. This could cause the scores for stars to increase or decrease over time. You won’t lose your stars if you already have them, but it could create a situation where you get a score that is higher than your friends but is no longer high enough to earn you a three star score.
The tips for Pepper Panic Saga Stars are as follows:
- Stars are based on a fixed point system and are the same for every player each time they play.
- In order to complete a level you have to reach the target score which is equal to one star.
- The score required to make 3 stars is different on each level based on a number of factors.
- It is possible to complete all levels with a three star score without using boosters or extra moves.
- Improving you score to three stars can be a fun challenge to keep the game interesting if you are stuck on a difficult level or waiting for new levels to be released.
- Some of the levels are really difficult to get a high score and can be completely frustrating.
- The strategies above can be applied generally to improve your scores on different levels.
- In the end all you get is the satisfaction of beating the challenge and a really cool looking map for your trouble.
