Pepper Panic Saga Level 76 Guide with Tips
(Update 1/23/2014 – Level 76 was updated recently and the ice now starts out partially damaged. While the strategy is largely the same it should be noted that the ice disappears much faster and this presents more opportunities to set up shockwave matches to destroy the statues. These changes are not big enough that we think it needs a new guide as are tips still work to complete the easier version of the level. The video and screenshots have been updated to reflect the changes)
Pepper Panic Saga level 76 is a destroy all the statues board that starts with 35 moves. The board is tall with a 4 tile wide center. On the sides of the board there are four areas which have two columns of three statues each. There are two rows of peppers that are frozen in ice in the middle which splits the board into two parts. Level 76 uses all but the orange peppers so it has 5 colors of peppers in play.
Level 76 is difficult because the statues are hard to get at and the entire bottom part of the board is cut off by the ice. In the beginning you are forced to work in the top half of the board because no new peppers will drop into the bottom until the ice is gone. It’s a lot of level 54 except on steroids due to the statues being off to the side rather than on the bottom of the board. The number of moves seems like enough but you usually run out just as you start to make some damage.
Pepper Panic Saga Level 76 Requirements
In order to complete level 76 you are required to do the following:
- Destroy all the statues (24)
All of the statues start out partly damaged and require two hits to destroy.
Pepper Panic Saga Level 76 – Tips to Help You Get Past It
We’ve had a lot of people ask us about this level and had to go back and play it quite a few times to come up with a good strategy. We found that we always ran out of moves when we tried to get technical. We also tried focusing on the colors of peppers that had the most sitting directly next to the statues. This strategy also proved difficult because we either couldn’t find enough matches of that color, or by the time we got the peppers ready to explode they would drop down on the board. In the end what we found actually worked was a “just blow everything up as fast as you can” mentality in combination with looking for good moves.
In the beginning you have to get rid of the ice as fast as possible. You don’t have to remove it all but you at least have to clear some on both rows so peppers can fall to the bottom. Before you start making moves figure out which of the colors that are trapped in the ice will help you accomplish this as fast as possible. You’re working in a really small space so the choices are limited but try to explode those peppers if you can.
Also look for shockwave combinations that will damage statues and/or the ice. And, look for matches that will explode peppers directly next to a statue. Explosions in the middle of the board do nothing so try to make the match so the pepper will be touching a statue when it explodes.
Stay out of the bottom part of the board completely unless you see a combo that will create a shockwave. If you see one make that match right away because the board may shuffle if you run out of moves and you’ll miss the opportunity.
Once the ice is clear you are going to want to get some action going and get some peppers exploding. Always look for shockwave matches first, but if you don’t see them try to grow peppers as fast as possible. As mentioned it didn’t really work out that well when we tried to focus on the colors that were next to the statues. So look at the board and figure out which color you can use to start a pepper panic as fast as possible. After each move look for new chances to make shockwaves and if they aren’t there try to get a chain reaction going.
It is also important to take your time and pick the best option. In the screenshot below you will see that we have several different choices for matches we could make:
The green and blue peppers labeled 1 and 2 can both be moved in several directions to cause damage. Moving the blue pepper (2) up looks like a pretty good move because it will explode, and cause the green peppers below to make a horizontal shockwave. It could also be matched with the blue pepper above it which will cause them to explode and create a shockwave going down with the green peppers to the right. While both of those moves will create action and get things going neither one of them are the best move.
Moving the green pepper (1) up will create the most damage and be the best choice. It will make a “T” pattern match and damage statues on both sides of the board. It will also create a downward shockwave that will make the blue pepper (2) explode and start a chain reaction. When the dust settles the board will look like this:
With that move we completely destroyed two statues and damaged three more. Thinking things through will help a lot more than getting lucky on this level. So while your overall plan should be to “blow stuff up” take a second to figure out what the best way to do that is. We had a request on our Facebook page to create a walkthrough guide for level 76, you can view that by clicking here. In the additional guide we play through the level and explain each decision as we go.
The tips for pepper panic saga level 76 are as follows:
- Free at least one pepper from the ice on both rows so the peppers can drop
- Stay out of the bottom part of the board unless you see a move that will create a shockwave and damage the statues, or if the board has been shuffled and you have grown peppers down there, a match that will explode a pepper that is touching a statue – If either one of these conditions exist make the move right away in case the board shuffles again and you lose your opportunity
- Make 4 pepper and “L” or “T” shaped matches when you can to damage the ice and/or statues
- Once the ice is gone look for matches that will create shockwaves every time before you make your move
- Look for matches that will explode peppers next to the statues instead of in the middle
- Try to grow the color of pepper that will be easiest to start a panic with instead of focusing on the one that has the most sitting next to statues
- Take your time and pick the best move
- “Blow stuff up!” but be as smart about it as you can
